and he that winneth souls is wise."</div> <bR> <div>      A.  Here we see the plan of God in the life of every one of us.</div> <bR> <div> <B>1.  God created the fruit tree to produce fruit after it's own kind, whose seed is in </b><I><B><U>itself</U></b></I><B>, or in the fruit.</b></div> <bR> <div> Gen. 1:11 & 12 "And God said, Let the earth bring forth grass, the herb yielding seed, and the <B>fruit tree yielding fruit after his kind, </b><B><U>whose seed is in itself,</U></b> upon the earth:  and it was so.  (12) And the earth brought forth grass, and herb yielding seed after his kind, <B>and the tree yielding fruit, whose seed was in itself, after his kind:  and God saw that it was good.</b></div> <bR> <div>           2.  The primary function of the tree is to reproduce itself; the secondary                function is fruit bearing.</div> <bR> <div>           3.   What is interesting is that when you possess the fruit, you also possess                the seed. </div> <bR> <div>           4.  This is why Solomon said, "The fruit of the righteous is a tree of life;                and he that winneth souls is wise."  Proverbs 11:30</div> <bR> <div> <I>Every living creature has within itself the abilities of growth, healing, and reprodution.</I></div> <bR> <DIV ALIGN="LEFT"></DIV> <div> <B>THE FRUIT of the SPIRIT</b></div> <bR> <div> <B>LOVE</b></div> <bR> <div> God's love is greater, higher, and deeper than human love could ever achieve.  </div> <DIV ALIGN="LEFT"></DIV> <div> Agape = Love; love that is spiritual, not sexual.</div> <bR> <div>      A.  As a Christian, we must strive to experience God's love while seeking to share      the "love of Christ" with others.</div> <bR> <div>      B.  In a sense, divine love defies description.  There is no description that      adequately describes the love of God.  God's love was expressed in human form.</div> <div>      I John 4:8 "He that loveth not knoweth not God; for God is love.</div> <bR> <DIV ALIGN="LEFT"></DIV> <div> <B>JOY</b></div> <bR> <div> Gladness; a condition or feeling of great pleasure or happiness; delight.</div> <bR> <div>      A.  John 15:11  "These things have I spoken unto you, that my joy might remain           in you, and that your joy might be full."</div> <bR> <div>      B.  Psalm 16:11  "Thou wilt shew me the path of life: <B>in thy presence is fulness      of joy; </b>at thy right hand there are pleasures for evermore."</div> <bR> <div>      C .  Isa. 12:3  "Therefore with joy shall ye draw water out of the wells of      salvation."</div> <bR> <div>      D.  Joy is a spiritual fruit, not a product of circumstances.  If we fail to live a      Spirit-filled life, we deny the Holy Spirit full control.  Life's circumstances tend      to grind us into despair and defeat.</div> <bR> <div>      E.  How do we get joy?  Seek God with all your heart and allow Him full control.</div> <bR> <DIV ALIGN="LEFT"></DIV> <div> <B>PEACE</b></div> <bR> <div> Calm; quiet; tranquility.  An undisturbed state of mind; absence of mental conflict; serenity.</div> <bR> <div>      A.  Isa. 26:3  "Thou wilt keep him in perfect peace, whose mind is stayed on thee;</div> <div>      because he trusteth in thee."</div> <bR> <div>      B.  Romans 14:17  "For the kingdom of God is not meat and drink; but </div> <div>      righteousness, and peace, and joy in the Holy Ghost."</div> <bR> <div>      C.  Phil. 4:7  "And the peace of God, which passeth all understanding, shall keep      your hearts and minds through Christ Jesus."</div> <DIV ALIGN="LEFT"></DIV> <div> <B>LONG-SUFFERING</b></div> <bR> <div> Patient endurance to bear long with frailties, injustices, and provocations of others, without murmuring or resentment.</div> <bR> <div>      A.  II Peter 3:9  "The Lord is not slack concerning his promise, as some men      count slackness; but is longsuffering to usward, not willing that any should perish,      but that all should come to repentance.</div> <bR> <div>      B.  In a nutshell, longsuffering is willingness to suffer wrongly.  At times we will      desire to "stand up" for ourselves, yet this may not be the best way to react,      depending on the circumstances.</div> <bR> <DIV ALIGN="LEFT"></DIV> <div> <B>GENTLENESS</b></div> <bR> <div> A disposition to be gentle, soft-spoken, kind and even-tempered.</div> <bR> <div>      A.  James 3:17  "But wisdom that is from above is first pure, then peaceable,      gentle, and easy to be entreated, full of mercy and good fruits, without partiality,      and without hypocrisy.</div> <bR> <div>      B.  Could it be that gentleness is a taming of the human spirit through the love of      God! </div> <bR> <div>      C.  Gentleness is a form of servanthood.  Gal. 5:13  "For, brethren, ye have been</div> <div>      called unto liberty; only use not liberty for an occasion to the flesh, <B>but by love </b></div> <div> <B>     serve one another."</b></div> <bR> <DIV ALIGN="LEFT"></DIV> <div> <B>GOODNESS</b></div> <bR> <div> The state of being good, kind, virtuous, benevolent, and God-like in the life and conduct.</div> <bR> <div>      A.  Goodness, one of life's simpler virtues, eludes so many; may we as Christians      pursue, obtain, and manifest it in our lives.</div> <bR> <div>      B.  Matt. 5:44  "But I say unto you, Love your enemies, bless them that curse you,      do good to them that hate you, and pray for them which despitefully use you, and</div> <div>      persecute you;"</div> <bR> <div>      Ro. 12:21  "Be not overcome of evil, but overcome evil with good."</div> <bR> <bR> <DIV ALIGN="LEFT"></DIV> <div> <B>FAITH</b></div> <bR> <div> Unquestioning belief, complete trust, confidence, or reliance.</div> <bR> <div> <B>MEEKNESS</b></div> <bR> <div> The disposition to be gentle, kind, even-balanced in temper and passions.  Meekness is</div> <div> <B>not </b>weakness.</div> <div>      A.  Col. 3:12  "Put on therefore, as the elect of God, holy and beloved, bowels of </div> <div>      mercies, kindness, humbleness of mind, meekness, longsuffering;"</div> <bR> <div>      B.  The meek person will be patient, mild, not inclined to anger or resentment.</div> <bR> <DIV ALIGN="LEFT"></DIV> <div> <B>TEMPERANCE</b></div> <bR> <div> The temperate person is self-controlled and a person of moderation.  The temperate use</div> <div> self-restraint in conduct, <U> expressions</U>, and are moderate in lifestyles.</div> <bR> <div>      A.  Time and experience should teach us the value of temperance.  Titus 2:2       "That the aged men be sober, grave, temperate, sound in faith, in charity, in      patience. </div> <bR> <div>      B.  Self-control is a subject that ought to be taught in the church, the home and the      schools.  People seem to have little self-control.  Therefore, it seems more and      more, people are less satisfied with what they have.</div> <bR> <div> II Peter 1:5-10  "And beside this, giving all diligence, add to your faith virtue;
